About The Artwork

Oracle bone scripts, ancient Chinese characters, the original characters are derived from depicting the appearance of objects, and are a kind of icon between paintings and characters. For this art work, I chose the oracle bone script "冓". This calligraphy depicts the appearance of two fishes meeting. Later, with the addition of different radicals, this character extends into many characters, all of which are related to encounter, contact and communication. This word is no longer used in modern Chinese. I interpret it as an abstract work of visual art, showing the starting point of an encounter and the spark of a moment of beauty.

Shih-Min is undoubtedly a very special person, if you know her. In addition, her work is as impressive as her own. Anyone, without advanced art theory, can feel the freshness and fluidity of her works at first glance. Born in Taiwan, she creates her works both in Chinese culture and contemporary art style. After getting the Bachelor of Science, her exploration of the universe turned from science to art. "Art is also a way to interpret everything in the world.", she said.
