“Abundancia” nació de la inspiración que me proporcionó la fotografía de un niño en un poblado de chabolas, en África. Fue la inocencia de su mirada y la inmensa luz de su sonrisa, lo que me conmovió y me impulsó a pintar este cuadro. Si lo consideramos desde nuestros valores culturales, ver tanta felicidad desbordada a causa de algo tan común y simple como un repollo, (algo que salta a la vista) tocó mi sensibilidad artística. En nuestra cultura, tan abundante de recursos, no valoramos el significado autentico de lo que esa pequeña y valiosa posesión puede representar, cuando existen carencias realmente importantes, incluso para una alimentación básica. Su sonrisa, está cargada de poesía. El título de este cuadro, está pensado únicamente para hacernos reflexionar en el concepto real de esta palabra, y en lo que significa dicho concepto en las distintas culturas, así como dentro de las diferentes percepciones personales.
