He is one of the most important heroes of Greek mythology. He was the son of the sea nymph Thetis and the rented Peleus of the Myrmidons (according to legend). Later Achilles became king of Myrmidon in his place. There are many legends about childhood and youth. Since his mother knew that he would die in the Trojan wars, he disguised him as a girl and hid it with Lykomedes, Skyros. Here Achilles loved Deidameia, the daughter of the king, and he had a son, Neoptolemos. When Odysseus the king of Ithaca heard this, he sent Achilleus to the Trojan War. Achilleus showed great heroism in the Trojan wars, even though he knew he was going to die right after he did not hesitate to kill Hector. As a matter of fact, when he was about to enter the city, the Prince of Troia was shot to death by a poisoned arrow from Paris...
