About The Artwork
I wanted to celebrate a culture of 'Africa', even there be not such a culture in existence. I wanted to celebrate the people's conspicuous physicality e.g their hair. I thought West Africa must have cried when it inspired a movement to Western communities of the world. I thought of juxtapositions of myriad feelings of hope and despair, hunger and satisfaction, lack and complacency that sweep across Africa unrepetantly. Eventually I cried. I saw no end to it.
