About The Artwork
"Bloom" is an oil painting on a stretched canvas that depicts a mustard field. Mustard is known as "sarson" in Urdu, which is my native language. I was inspired to create this artwork by a quote from Lady Bird Johnson: "Where flowers bloom, so does hope." I worked in layers on this piece to give it a textured effect. I used warm colors to convey warmth, energy, and hope, while cool colors were added to create a calming effect. The sight of the mustard field is quite common during the spring season in Punjab, Pakistan. It's a sign of the arrival of spring with blossoms blooming, buzzing bees, and longer days. It's a time of celebration when bare tree branches of winter give way to budding green leaves. Spring is all about new beginnings and transformations. It symbolizes starting fresh and starting over. Spring is associated with optimism and reminds us that there is always a chance for new beginnings. Spring is known as the "season of hope" as it symbolizes the resurgence of life after the inevitable challenges of winter.
