About The Artwork

This painting expresses the technique of meditation and living a life in a humble buddhist way. The boy is swirling around underwater, almost uncontrollably. It’s a metaphor for how we all feel in life sometimes. The decisions we make are mainly down to acquiring money and getting employment. That may not be what we want to choose, but we have no choice but to adhere to the capitalist world. My painting hopefully provokes feelings of being under the weight of circumstance. If you have suffered from depression and anxiety, you will understand that feeling I’m trying to express. Sometimes, you will come out of a stressful situation or state of mind. It’s almost like, bursting out from being submerged underwater. You may find you have years, or even seconds, to feel free and happy and content before you are overwhelmed and plunged deep underwater where you’re battling your dark thoughts and responsibilities.

Alternative, Edgy, Artist, Illustrator & Shop. WHO IS HELEN, AKA ELLUSE, THE ARTIST? I'm Helen, also known as Elluse, the artist. You might wonder about the name Elluse; it's a condensed form of "Elusive," a choice that reflects my unique approach to art. My artistic journey revolves around the rejection of conformity. I intentionally explore various mediums and styles, unlike many artists who develop a signature style. My work deliberately refuses to conform, reflecting my belief in the importance of artistic freedom. When it comes to expressing my thoughts through art, I favour subtlety. I'm not in the business of advertisement, and I don't feel the need to act like one. I'm multifaceted with a wide range of interests and influences, making me impossible to categorize or confine. Art has been a part of my life since childhood. My mother, an art teacher, instilled in me a love for experimenting with various mediums. As I continued to develop as an artist, I expanded my horizons to encompass diverse technologies, from computer software to sculpture, lino print, fine art, photography, and 3D printing. Recently, I've even ventured into the world of art exhibitions. My work is deeply influenced by my reading in philosophy and politics, giving it an edgy, off-the-beaten-track feel with a socialist touch. I resist the societal pressure on artists to conform to a specific style. For me, this concept is dull and uninspiring. Art, in my view, is not about business or making money. It's a way of living that challenges the consumerist mindset of Western society. More people embracing art could benefit the planet and our mental well-being. As for my history, after completing my Fine Arts Bachelors Degree, I delved into computer design software and furthered my education in the Adobe Creative Suite. With great enthusiasm and a unique skill set, I embarked on a twenty-year career encompassing various Graphic Design and Website Development roles. While in a full-time graphic design position at Capify, a global financial business, I contemplated starting my own business. That's when Elluse, also known as Helen Jones, was born.
