Calming Green Painting

Calming Green ‘Calming Green’ is part of my abstract expressionist painting series that I am working on at the moment and the concept is on a calming effect. The process is done through psychic automatism, where I am left to roam quite a bit and it is fun. For these, I generally use light or pastel hues that complement each other, as with this particular one. I like to use the white neutrality as an enlightening medium and somehow it unites the image, despite all the intricacies it has, but it hardly dominates. It is not pure, white hardly is, especially against contrasts, but it makes it easier or perhaps leans towards a wistful notion. There’s a lot of other interests in the abstract through the greens, blacks and light blues, where green was the theme to start off with. At times these colours are embossed, which is achieved from the use of lava texture gel that has very small chips of lava. If you have a closer look at the additional images, you will notice that this gel also decorates the four sides of the painting, with this effect. So, it incorporates the entire piece, not needing to be framed.
