About The Artwork
A smallish oil painting on upcycled board. The subject is a clown sleeping - the head tipped back snoring, mouth open catching flies. Painted in neutral blue hues, with a bright red nose and glistening red round the neck. The subject appeared through a doodle with the paint, it was not planned. It reminds me of my late father sleeping in his chair. He slept a lot towards the end. What kind of sleep is it? How restful does the clown seem? There's part of me that sees a struggle in the breathing.
