About The Artwork

The title of this painting comes from the way that the objects in the picture appear to revolve and 'dance' around the canvas in a circle. Like many of my recent paintings, I included natural objects that we usually pass by without examining, such as seed pods, stones and leaves. Such things may not be considered beautiful in the way that a flower is, but they have interesting textures and details, and are well worth taking the time to examine.

I am an artist and writer with paintings in private and corporate collections in Turkey, the UK, the United States, Canada and Australia. I live in Adana, Turkey. I am a member of both local and national jury-selected artists' associations and often participate in Turkish-government sponsored exhibitions in other countries. I paint in both figurative and abstract styles, but most recently my interest has been in capturing the kind of details in nature that you would usually pass by without a second glance: things like weathered rocks, broken branches and dying leaves. The idea behind this 'Vanitas' series is perhaps that the value and beauty of the ordinary things in nature lies in their impermanence. Many of my works are built up of multiple layers over a long period of time − using a variety of techniques and tools. Layers of paint are poured, glazed, scratched, and rubbed away until the desired effect is achieved. Each exhibition I take part in brings me into contact with many artists and art lovers, whose feedback and reactions to my work I find invaluable. I continue to develop new techniques and explore new approaches in order to develop my personal response to the world around me.
