I've recently realized these tree lined works are a sort of reversion to my youthful memories, my earliest artworks which were all tree lined landscapes. When I scout places to paint there is always a feeling that comes over me when I locate the right spot. Its an internal peace, a dopamine rush of sorts and a certain closeness to nature. Its the same feeling I had as a youth wondering the woods on the East Coast or in Northern Michigan with my camera or watercolor pad and paints! The work itself displays layers of thick and thin painting with a focus on mark making as it defines structure within a confined space. The strokes of oil, i.e. marks, fill the visual field with living movement thereby expounding the visual imagery. All the while light and color delightfully push and pull within this living composition replicating my dopamine rush in literal, visual terms. I suggest a great red and robusto cigar when viewing.

Statement: PORTRAITS AND PLANTS: My work offers less about the detailed physicality of nature and instead captures the purest emotions bestowed upon the human condition by exposure to nature. The idea of life is given by stroke, passion by line, belief via color, and all displayed as offerings to our truest self. Bio: To Michigan artist Jon Parlangeli there is no other path but to constantly ask and then answer questions via different modalities within his medium. This leads to new explorative bodies of work offering differing styles, genres, or techniques that satiate his curiosity for the space between real and the abstract. Parlangeli uses both nature and figure as his muse often jostling between them to solve internal conundrums exposed during studio sessions. Standing over such processes is his artistic signature, color. Born partially color blind, Parlangeli uses color as his weapon of indelicacy often pushing beyond subtle yet achieving a cosmopolitan of sublime. Parlangeli is a seasoned painter who has placed works within corporate and private collections throughout the US, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. His works have been shown in the US and internationally.
