This is part of a series of 4 works that utilize portraiture, expression and symbols to tell a particular story, in this case, the use of insibidi. Arranged in the right other, each piece tells a part of a larger story which is continued in another piece. These descriptions don't give full details of the entire story due to it's length but gives necessary information as to why the artist chose to tell it. The need to communicate ideas and narratives using the insibidi symbol. It combines the larger symbol on the painting with the smaller one on the face to read a particular meaning. It was a language of a secret society of men, first used by women, a language of mystery. A system of symbols is estimated to have been around from 400 to 1400 CE. It is a language of contradiction. In it's prime, it United on the common people at the same time it distinguished the elites from the rest. It gets it's name from the word meaning "language of dread". But most of the preserved writing we have from the ancestral era tells stories of love, friendship, relationship, intimacy, scandals and humor. It is a "dead" language, though today it's spiritual elements are more alive than ever. The fourth part of the tale ; "Finding unity in sound" narrates more importantly about how she intended to bring back harmony, peace and love amongst them. She had to do it in a way she knew best... She used music... She taught them a means of communication and expression of one's self. In several ways, they where unified by this art; the art of sound.
