This is a really fun piece that started off being called Saturday in the Park, but as I continued to work on it, I added fabric, painted fabric, added more texture and put a high gloss texture top surface on it. In the scraps of fabric that I purchased from The Scrap Exchange in Durham NC, there was this little scrap that looked just like a fish - and only one. I placed the fabric fish on the canvas and at that point, new the work was complete. I created the beginnings of this piece years ago, but totally changed it and turned it into this fun, life-loving piece of art just recently. Having come through some recent life storms, I am emerging as a much stronger and a much more visually expressive artist. My inspiration in creating this piece comes from that feeling of wanting to have fun, wanting to be where it feels like you're on vacation, and wanting to explode with high energy. Yes, it started out as Saturday in the Park, but is now a very busy, active place of fun with one fish outa water.

I am a self-taught artist best known for large-size original abstract and contemporary paintings. In 2021 I worked with an organization to create ~200 digital images - variations of my original artwork - to use for ~1500 prints for the Sky Tower Hotel at a Resort & Casino. I have donated artwork to raise money for a Children’s Home in Oxford, NC, and for Freedom Global, an organization that creates sustainable solutions to alleviating poverty in countries around the globe. My art is also featured in the Corporate World – Washington, DC; Bel Air, MD; Baton Rouge, LA; and Morrisville, NC, but most of my work is enjoyed in the homes of art collectors.
