Fishing for Gold Painting

Fishing for Gold is inspired by my fear of the deep sea (the unknown, death, chaos) and by fishing trawlers. I am absolutely fascinated by the idea of the massive trawls, nets that are dragged across the bottom of the sea and that capture anything that comes across their path. Fishing for Gold is not really about gold, but more about the traditional process of sifting through dirt and eventually finding the precious metal and what that could mean metaphorically. Trawlers obviously are fishing vessels and have a singular purpose, but in my mind the sea is the endless unknown. And casting a net into that darkness is like casting a net into your own subconscious.
