I’m inspired by the human condition .Over the last 8 years since leaving university my practice has focused on scratching beneath the surface to find the hidden truths behinds an image . What makes us take certain people and elevate them above others . Is the celebrity life really as idyllic as we think ? Who wants to be rich and famous when so many need rehab ? This has led to a recent series of “Fractured Paintings “ At first glance they look similar to Bridget Riley’s OpArt paintings or have a look reminiscent of similar art made digitally in photoshop. However all my paintings feature hand drawn line work and hand painted surfaces .

My work is inspired by the colours and motion of the natural world of my ancestors. Using multiple layers of line, pattern and marks both translucent and opaque, my paintings create an abstract landscapes which when presented can be broken down and explored, offering the viewer compositions that are culturally and politically emotive in a subtle way that has been removed from literal context.
