This painting is inspired by the Kelp forests that grow in cold, clear water and support thousands of types of marine species. Giant Bladder Kelp can grow to more than 100 feet or 30 metres tall and is anchored down by root like structures called 'Holdfasts' which grab on to rocks on the seabed. I particularly like the way Kelp dances around due to the fact that it grows in turbulent water

I am predominantly interested in the natural world and the structures and connections that are inherent within from a microscopic to a massive level. There is a lot of bright colour in my work and my main aim is to create a harmonious balance between the many colours and forms within the composition. Through my work I hope to inspire the awe that I feel about nature and its interconnectedness in others. I use a variety of 2D media and my style is semi-abstract or realistic and there is often a symbolic element involved.
