About The Artwork
I enjoy Wes Anderson's films - especially The Grand Budapest Hotel. One of my Ultimate Frisbee buddies asked of I would paint his daughter in the style of Boy With Apple - the painting highlighted in the film which was commissioned from English painter Michael Taylor. I tried to paint her in the style of Hans Holbein and Lucas Cranach inspired by Taylor's Boy With Apple. I reached out to Taylor and found him to be super helpful and encouraging. He was the one who suggested taking a bite out of the apple! He also encouraged me to include the small bit of paper as he said Wes Anderson was insistententon the small bit of paper. I'm so thankful for the encouragement of Michael Taylor and for this exciting project painting.
