Grief Painting

I was inspired by the death of a loved one. I was trying to capture the feeling of loss and almost weight after the event. I kept a somber feel in the colour and in the posture of the model, but left lightness in the water to indicate a release of spirit. I wanted this to not be a meditation on death, but a realization that the loved one is free of the weight and burden of the body. I merged several images together to create the feel I wanted, which was still in keeping with the figurative work I love.
