Mfum Eugene, born 1997 in Dunkwa Offin in the Central region of Ghana, is a contemporary Ghanaian artist with an active studio in Takoradi and Kumasi. He is currently a final year student at Takoradi Technical University, A graduate of Higher National Diploma in Painting, which he is pursuing a Bachelor of Technology Industrial Painting and Design (Studio Practice) . He developed the aptitude and Creativity for the execution of everyday contemporary art in various media ranging from wet to dry. He is fascinated by trading. This fascination with trading in particular has led him to explore different techniques using conventional and unconventional objects like round wooden tray to produce Market women– like impressions of varied tonal structures on round wooden tray. With this idea, through my work He is incorporating the wooden tray as a base or substrate for my work. His making process is integral to his practice. His artworks mainly examines basic economy and capitalist intentionality. His works also revolve around the cultural, political affiliations, and growth documentation of social. With every effect from his painting process, he explores the notion of efforts of market women towards the development of the economy. He also leverages on creative play in his working process. He likes painting abstract, and neo-impressionism which some have been posted on his page but he’s currently exploring more by painting market women on flat wooden tray which will be posted soon.
