About The Artwork

JAPA”Japa” can be a metric to measure the state of socio-economic situation in Nigeria. This encompasses political, security and hopelessness from different works of life. The Artist during his research for this piece realised that cost of Japa is huge, one wonders if some have such money why make the move. The answer may lie in what the future holds and the last Election have not help.UK, Canada, US, Scandinavian Countries, Australia and New Zealand are popular destination and Malaysia and Angola are close behind for different reasonsBritain for instant opened their borders for people to come and study k1 visa for care workers both offering opportunity to bring families along and Nigerians swamped for it. Of course Proprietors of Care homes made a kill and some cases not having jobs to offer to applicants and scheme intended leaving some to find their bubbles burst and still in the limbo with our President as all eyes are on the judiciary to deliver the goods on who really won the last election.Nigeria seem to go through a vicious circle, as one could remember the 90’s slogan of ANDREW IS CHECKING OUT, Then we were heavily influenced by American hip-hop culture but Afrobeats has taken over and Japa is it. Now it’s cool as being Nigerian is Cool so said one 2nd Generation Nigeria however our leaders keep letting us down. The surge is huge but the dream is still a bubble and some theirs might but
