Late Afternoon Castle Ward Painting

Painted solely on location, en plein air, on the lough shore of Strangford Lough. Looking up through the trees at Castle Ward. I liked the way the grass outside the mansion was lit up in complete contrast to the trees in the foreground and mansion's gothic side in shade. The mansion is barely indicated. Just some light on the side of the building suggesting the form and a few marks indicating the windows. However, that's all you need the viewer will invent the rest.
