About The Artwork
The rugged and dramatic landscape of Big Bend National Park inspired me to create this painting. It is not a literal depiction of the scene, but rather, it is based upon the actual scene. I've taken liberty to create an idealized image with elements rearranged, added and deleted to support my composition. The title "Lenticular" describes the cloud formation above the central rock elements. It is from that atmospheric feature that I went on to create the series of oval arrangement of features that eventually leads the eye to the circling of the turkey vultures and then off into space. I hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
