Lucky Dube Painting

My inspiration comes from my South African roots and love for local music and artists. South Africans artists of color had a really hard time in the the apartheid era. Many of these artists were activists often living in exile in far away counties. Lucky Dube`s approach and message was and is still today, one of peace, love and hope. In this painting I`m portraying just that. With energy and light shining from him, as he projects into the audience while also feeding on their energy with a smile on his face. my style is contrasting in shades of almost black and white, with shapes of drape, and texture on his denim jacket. I`m playing with light and showing emotion. showing only enough light leaving the viewer to fill in and decide for themselves. Acrylic as medium and my unique style.
