About The Artwork
This is an unframed watercolour on Arches, rough paper. I was standing on the bluff, looking down over the beach in Malibu. This painting was made on sight, capturing the movement of the waves in an abstract way. There is nothing more exciting than working quickly and enjoying the forces of nature. It is a meditation on the landscape. I chose watercolour because it is so easily transported and it lends itself so well to working outside in all weather. It also offers an incredible immediacy. I hope you will be inspired by the loose interpretation of the scene.
