Understanding the elements of good health expressed by ancient Native American traditions led me to create this painting, whilst feeling deep love. It is inspired by the Medicine Wheel and love. The Medicine Wheel shows us that we have four aspects to ourselves: The physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Each must be in balance and equally developed for us to be happy, healthy and in harmony. The Medicine Wheel, sometimes known as the Sacred Hoop, has been used by generations of various Native American tribes for health and healing. It embodies the four elements: Fire – Water – Earth – Air - and the four cardinal directions: North – South – East and West. As well as Father Sky, Mother Earth and Spirit Tree. All of these symbolise the dimensions of health and the cycles of life. The sacred heart at the centre of the artwork is also a symbol of San Miguel de Allende and is known as the heart of Mexico. It is believed that when this heart is present miracles become reality.
