Montecassino Painting

Montecassino (lat.Mons Casinus) - one of the oldest and largest monasteries in Europe, with a thousand-year history, located on a rocky hill, westward of the town of Cassino in central Italy. The monastery kept the most ancient manuscripts and books, frescoes, mosaics, and paintings by Leonardo, Giotto, Veronese, and other great masters of the Renaissance era. During the Second World War, the battle for the mountain and the surrounding area, where the monastery is located, were fierce battles for several months. On 15 February 1944, during the offensive of the allied armies, 229 bombers turned the monastery into ruins. At the same time, there was no military sense in bombing the monastery - there was not a single German soldier in it. My artwork is about one of the pages of the Second World War.
