I stopped at the “Pryzmat” Gallery of the Visual Artists House, being paused with a strong aura emanating from the several dozen of canvases. I entered that unusual reality. Probably once I have seen a painting by Serge Vasilendiuc, I drew attention to his high art culture but now - when these landscapes are warm even in the moonlight - well, they put the screws on me… Serge Vasilendiuc brings in his artistic work the whole suitcases of the South’s painting tradition, stores them from the basement to the rafters and he is not afraid that someone can accuse him of fraternization with the post-cubism or getting in cahoots with a huge castle’s ghost. He is supposed to paint nothing special: some subdued landscapes with a hint of the drawing conventionality and they are, generally speaking, full of harmony. But the rhythm throbs under the mask of this nice melody. And that rhythm extends the art constrictions but it does not destroy them. And that’s just Art! (Marek Sołtysik)
