About The Artwork

Come join with the beauty of color and this expressive still life's cheerful energy. Here a palette of emotive hues take the viewer on a journey of imagination where rich motifs and artful forms create a magnetic landscape of possibilities. Simple bold lines capture the whimsical spirit embedded within the objects and supporting motifs that surround them. The painting becomes a beautiful tapestry of engagement and wonder for the viewer to unfold. Within it's inviting geometry warm yellows and touches of pink dance with soothing greens and blues among other delightful tints and tones. Beautiful strokes of the brush carry the paint in a lively descriptive manner inviting further attention. Inspiration for this prismatic still life came from my interest in exploring patterns and uncovering the beauty within the unexpected. The painting was created on a gallery wrapped canvas in oils. It is a signed original that is ready to hang either framed or unframed.

ARTISTS STATEMENT: I observe, and participate in, the change of hues. I stand alone in a perspective—influenced by the roads and detours that I’ve chosen. The subjects I interpret on canvas dance with tradition, but underneath exists an individual search for freedom. As a creator, I’ve always been interested in working with color. I see my life as having a palette of its own and I seek to have the chroma of my experiences come through in my paintings. Over time, I’ve realized the only way to achieve this goal is to risk exposure—to unveil my simplified forms to the viewer. Whether the forms operate within the context of landscape or still life, the resulting narrative is always a story of merit, regardless of public perception or understanding. BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: I was born in Vancouver, BC in 1958 and then moved to California which is where my parents originally met. I lived there until I was 6 when my family moved across the US to New Jersey for my father's work. I grew up in a creative family and pursued art in college only to leave it upon graduation, dabbling with it over the years that followed. In 2010 I returned to painting on a more committed basis. This was spawned by some significant life changes and painting became my respite. I still reside in New Jersey and as an artist I appreciate the proximity to both Philadelphia and New York City. I've been showing my work since 2011 and continue to do so.
