Proteas are one of my favourite flowers in the world and also our (South Africa) national flower. In a time of struggle with load shedding and economic hardship I painted our flower as a symbol of unity -we all are going through this turmoil together. I used black and white to symbolise that even in the darkest night there is some light (hope)
