We think of redemption as being the same as restoration. But CS Lewis describes it quite differently, and I think, quite accurately. Redeemed humanity is to be more wonderful, than anything man or nature has ever seen or experienced, otherwise what is the point of life? We live to grow and be continually transformed, hopefully for the better, to have a nature that is more and more akin to God's. This process of refinement is described in the Bible as rust falling away and becoming gold....
