Relapse Tomorrow Painting

This painting is part of an ongoing series of intimate minimal landscapes. Inspired by Etal Adnan these landscapes are made by applying a thick layer of lustrous oil colour with a palate knife, a method I particularly enjoy. The result is simple and evocative, flatness allowing for texture and depth. I began making these smaller scale paintings while l was living in a fairly confined Berlin apartment. I had recently abandoned my career in the music industry and I was experiencing a lot of anxiety about my circumstances. I wanted to make paintings for real people to pause upon for an escape within their own home or working environment. It was important for me for the work to be meditative, like a small offering of calm in the storm. They are wonderful to make and I love them. They are sold unframed and ready to hang.
