Only when we distinguish between right and wrong do we fall out of paradise and the game starts to suck … Some things have the unpleasant quality of irritating, loud neighbours, nagging partners, lack of attentiveness, selfish politicians, bossy know-it-alls etc. The irritations really get the stories in your head going. Self-righteous scenarios drive a wedge between yourself and the world … The heart is the space beyond right and wrong, is always open and inviting and yet it is difficult to let go of this urge to be right. Of course you can find practical interventions to solve irritating problems. This is often very helpful. However, it is more about using the irritation to integrate the world in the way it is and to find its beauty again… The mind can never integrate irritations. But the heart has this capacity. It is home to even the most intense irritation, has open arms for the lousiest sensations and nothing but an invitation to even the most annoying grids …
