Shukraan Painting

Shukran", Arabic for "thank you", is an intimate work. Years ago my children opened in my soul the need to talk about the gift of being a mother and the beauty of childhood. In the foreground a boy, my youngest son, my Benjamin, looks at us with a superiority grimace, not an arrogant gesture, but a wink that indicates his strong personality. He knows who he is and he knows he is loved. His posture, the crossing of his arms, the clothes he wears and the colour of his clothes speak to us of a hero, a child-God. The choice of the size of the frame is not accidental, the work is 190 metres high and the child occupies almost all the space, undoubtedly larger than the real size, since he represents all the children of the world, beautiful and supernatural beings that we should be grateful for and take care of above all the creatures of the world. The background overwhelms us in decorations and colours. A mixture of cultural influences, flowers and geometric shapes that dance and play accompanying the main figure. The work speaks to us of love that transcends everything: gender, culture, social situation... A golden, magical lantern on the lower right, illuminates and emphasises the idea: Children are the light of the world.
