Teresitas Painting

“Teresitas" is a very personal work, full of memories of the magical town of Álamos, Sonora. Through intertwined faces and figures I want to represent my family and the moments shared in that place. This work is a tribute to the connection family and the traditions that give meaning and significance to our lives. In this work there are figures that are part of a typical Mexican game called lottery, which gives me a feeling of nostalgia, customs and family roots. The Talavera details that adorn “Teresita” are a tribute to tradition that dates back centuries. Talavera is an art that combines Spanish, indigenous and Arab influences. Talavera has become a distinctive manifestation of our Mexican identity. I wanted to incorporate these details to highlight the importance of celebrating our cultural roots. “Teresitas" es una obra muy personal, llena de recuerdos del pueblo mágico de Álamos, Sonora. A través de caras y figuras entrelazadas quiero representar a mi familia y los momentos compartidos en ese lugar. Esta obra es un homenaje a la conexión familiar y a las tradiciones que dan sentido y significado a nuestras vidas. En ésta obra se encuentran figuras que son parte de un juego típico mexicano llamado lotería , lo cual me da una sensación de nostalgia , de costumbres y raíces familiares. Los detalles de la talavera que adornan a “Teresita” son un tributo a la tradición que se remonta a siglos atrás. La talavera es un arte que combina influencias españolas, indigenas y árabes. La talavera se ha convertido en una manifestación distintiva de nuestra identidad mexicana. Quise incorporar estos detalles para resaltar la importancia de celebrar nuestras raíces culturales.
