For the series entitled "VUCA/VUKA", I explore various forms of mass public gatherings, such as protests, riots, and public celebrations. I am interested, specifically in the various forms of temporary communities, that are created within these generated environments, and how this can serve as a site of translation and cultural exchange. I am interested in how VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity) can be utilized within this framed work so that it can promote VUKA (reawakening) within the greater society. This watercolour is on cold pressed paper, and is painted using Graham's watercolour. This watercolour uses honey as it's main binding solution, and natural preservative. It can be purchased framed or unframed.

Hi my name is Jamie, and I love to paint. In fact, I live for it! I have been a professional artist for the last 14 years. It's been an amazing journey, that has taken me around the world. I was born in the Toronto, Canada, where I studied my craft. I later moved to London, U.K at 26 years old, continuing my studies, before returning to Canada after almost 5 years. My career began in Toronto, Canada, and has led me to many countries, where I have enjoyed exhibiting my work and painting for clients internationally. My works have been exhibited throughout North America, and Europe at Arte Fiera Bologna, Santorini Biennale, AACDD Festival London, Art Toronto, and AQUA Miami). I've appeared in publications such as Canadian Art, Voir Magazine, CBC news, and Garageland, first coming to national prominence in Canada, participating on the T.V programme Star portraits, painting Canadian TV Icon Debbie Travis. My works are held in private and public collections such as the Portrait Gallery of Canada, Debbie Moore M.B.E, and the ALDO collection. My paintings reflect something personal, often using anecdotes, in an attempt to create connecting points between myself, and the viewer. I paint a wide variety of subjects in a realist style, and continue to strive to make better work everyday. I have a passion for teaching; I love to pass on what I have gathered from my years of research and experimentation in the studio. I currently teach a special art concentration programme in the Cree territory of Eeyou Istchee, and now share my time between the Cree nation of Nemaska, in Northern Quebec, and Burgeo, Newfoundland. I would love to hear from you if you are interested in my artwork or have a question about my process.
