The Guitarist Painting

This lone musician was spotted in the old part of Granada, called Albayzin, something in his eyes resonated in me and before I knew it I was climbing up a wall to photograph him repeatedly. He seemed both forlorn and strongly determined, something which seemed strangely familiar to me. Given the light rays and rugged texture of the walls I chose a cotton and prepared it with pumice and marble powder before beginning the painting. Adding another layer of texture is also an allusion to the structure of the music. This is part of a series called How It Feels To Be Alive which focuses on emphasising all that we share as a species.
