The Power of the Horse Painting

Ive always loved horses. They are powerful yet gentle creatures. They inspire me to draw and paint them. I try to capture their beauty and magnificence on canvas. This is a charcoal drawing on an abstract background on canvas. When I painted it it had a frame behind the canvas but shipping it from New Zealand when it is framed is very expensive. Often around $1000 which would go on top of the cost of the painting. So I choose to take the canvas off the frame once it is purchased. The edges are painted so that if you wish to stretch the canvas over a frame after purchase the edges will match the painting. The canvas will be carefully rolled and put in a tube to freight.
