About The Artwork

My garden is a canvas, for flowers, for vegetables, for colour and for bees and butterflies. This Montana Rubins is my favourite clematis. It is strong, generous in its flowering and an early nectar provider. The pink colour is elusive as it has a golden glow deep inside the petals. Tucked right down the bottom of the garden it is sleeted from the north wind that blows here and a haven of peace for all who see and feel it. I'm almost reluctant to see this painting as I love it- but you will love it too and that will make me happy (and keep me in brushes)

I love colour.I studied Textiles and embroidery at Goldsmiths in London and went on to contribute to art and textile magazines such as 'Golden Hands" I do lots of drawing and sketching and studying the work of the masters. I resonate with the improessionists and love the free use of colour and shape. I’m a painter and printmaker. I love landscape, still life and flowers. Like Klimt, I grow flowers just to paint them! I used to paint in oils, but have recently found I am reacting to the solvents and so I am moving over to acrylics and experimenting with watercolour and pastel. My style is impressionistic and I adore colour and am influenced by the Scottish Colourists. I'm always exploring colours both seen and unseen in my work, how they relate and interact. I’ve always got a sketch book and a bit of graffite tucked in a pocket in case something catches my eye. I tend to sketch in the landscape and paint in my studio. I paint from the memory of the feeling of place, colour, mood, temperature. All of that is stored in my trusty sketch book just waiting to be let out! My work is in private collections all over the world. Now I want to make it more available.
