About The Artwork
In my current and on going body of work, the subject is at once recognisable and yet not quite recognisable; occupying the space of metaphor and yet drawing inspiration from the natural world. I am interested in all that is fleeting and yet all that remains when everything else goes. As Saloustios, 4th century writer, expressed; 'These things never happened but are always'. Most recent paintings are executed in acrylic and oil; however, they draw on the way I use Encaustic i.e. multi layering, windows upon windows and making visible what has gone before. This painting is a potential pair to 'Fast Flowing River' and/or 'Seeds' they can be purchased either separately or together.
