The rise of technology equips animals with prosthetic legs, beaks or artificial tail fins. Those artficial limbs help creatures to get over their physical ailments. Hybrid aesthetic in the field of tension between blemish and beauty. Is it exaggerated love, focused on one individual, in times of factory farming and destruction of natural habitats, which builds these exceptional prosthesis or is it a link to a more permitting future? In her work Evalie Wagner fathoms this phenomenon in tableau paintings together with small still life – paintings of broken and harmed „everyday – use – objects“ like plates and a damaged carpet in a poetical manner. The artwork is on paper, which is mounted on canvas. In this way fine cracks and folds are arising and create a distinctive and fragile appearance. Some broken and fixed plates are hanging between the pictures. The work refers to old traditions like the japanese Kintsugi tecnique of repairing broken pottery with gold, thereby understanding that the piece is more beautiful and precious for having been broken and fixed.

Perceptions, aspirations and visions of a generation. - Captured in folkloric variety with the tenderness of a bemused romantic. The attempt to draw a gentle line from Caspar - David Friedrich und Thoreau, up to the transfigured Instagram pictures of the present. Revised pictures of postcard idylls and portraits which facing the distance, celebrate a bold escapism towards nature. Flora and fauna under attention. Associative reflections of music and online imagery, loosely linked with the own biography captured in paintings - filled with clarity, mysticism and vulnerability.
