About The Artwork

Painting: Collage (paper), Acrylic and polyurathane on wood panel. Size: 28 H x 36 W x 2 in Inspired by the view of the San Fernando Valley from Mulholland Drive at Dusk, Los Angeles California. The background of this work is collaged. The trees are ink and acrylic paint, varnished with polyurethane on wood panel. The light color paint on the trees on the left is gold acrylic paint. The collage wraps around the sides of the work so that frame is not necessary.

ARTIST STATEMENT: My work is about layers and I use nature, trees in particular, to symbolize humankind and life experiences. For me using the tree image is very personal and complex. A single tree has the power to represent the human condition, as we stand morally strong or physically frail, bending resiliently with the wind or succumbing to the storm. Above all else I want my work to present a sense of beauty and introspection.
