Here is a portrait of a Ukrainian girl wearing traditional clothes from the western part of the country. For you, this is a portrait in a slightly unusual style of painting. For me, it is endless fragments of memories. It's winter, it's cold, and we're traveling with a group of artists in cars to the Carpathian Mountains. We spend several hours painting with our feet in the snow. It's a test, I wasn't ready for it. So I go into a wooden house with my supplies, put my feet up to the fireplace and listen to the Christmas talk. Hot coffee and mystical stories at Christmas. Comparing traditions in different regions. Outside the window, in the silence, I hear the sound of small bells and am surprised. It's a local church representative walking around asking if anyone needs help. In some homes, he is invited to join the Christmas conversation. It's not easy for people to live in the mountains, there are rarely travelers here. It is almost impossible to climb the mountain because the road is covered with snow, some bridges are dismantled, there is no internet and almost no communication. So a person who will support the conversation is a good opportunity. This portrait is inspired by those stories in the snowy winter mountains.
