About The Artwork

"Voyeur" takes you into a world of desire and mystery, where the scene unfolds through vibrant red flowers. As you observe the painting, there's a sense of peeking on the subject, just as the subject is peering through the flowers. The roles blur, leaving you wondering who the true voyeur is in that fleeting moment – the youthful athlete or yourself. It's a playful exploration of perspectives and the mystery of perception. The painting uses oil to capture a scene that's full of allure and curiosity. The muscular male athlete is a symbol of strength and classical beauty. The contrast of bold red flowers against the athlete's pale skin adds to the sensual feeling. The painting invites you to think about your own desires and what tempts you. The brushstrokes in the painting, thick and textured, give a lively feeling to the athlete's body. On the other hand, the glazing creates a soft, dreamy look to the surroundings. This mix of textures makes the contrast even stronger and highlights the excitement in the painting. In a big picture, 'Voyeur' is all about exploring the human body and the natural instincts that drive us. It's an artwork that sparks thoughts and makes you wonder about the hidden desires we all have.

I am a Russian artist based in Sacramento, California. I was born in the Soviet Union, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan and lived in Moscow until the political climate of the country became a nightmare. My creative spirit was diminished during this time, but found new life in the United States. I draw upon the traditions of academic art and Impressionism, with a particular focus on the use of color. To me, the color theory is an almost spiritual approach to painting. I try to capture the beauty of the relationship between warm and cold colors, often in night scenes illuminated by moonlight. I wouldn't be able to convey pain and suffering, but rather a timeless atmosphere that viewers can take away and appreciate it as a way of escape.
