About The Artwork

This painting is based upon the Alpine Fault line which runs down and across the length of New Zealand's South Island and is very visible in winter from a satellite image as it forms the great southern Alps. The Kea is a naughty curious bird which will try and eat anything and is often found in the alpine areas of the South Island. Like the fault line, the rope can take the strain and nothing happens... until it snaps.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I trained as an architect (back in the days before serious 3d cad) and so got a thorough training in drawing, perspective, scale, composition, shadow, depth and geospatial awareness with some life drawing and painting training. Was lucky enough to have famous NZ artists (Pat Hanley and Claudia Pond-Eyley) teach at the university in those days, and they would take us out in all weathers and environments until we could see and sketch anything. When I spent three months in Mexico in 2017 I finally had the time and space to resurrect my art practice and started with acrylics which was a medium I hadn't used before and have not stopped since.
