About The Artwork
The painting was done with thin layers of acrylic paint on colored ground. In order to create a misty and ominous atmosphere I choose a nearly black wooden plate with just a few color stains. The figures are painted by covering the surrounding nearly like "papercuts", giving the impression of a backlit scenery. The texture with all its bubbles and streaks results of the very aqueous consistency of the colors I used. The image was insired by photos of waterprotesters at the Dakota Access Pipeline being attacked with tear gas by the police.
