This painting is inspired by a photograph showing an indigen woman during protest action at Turtle Island, North Dakota. Especially native people tried to protect their drinking water being threatened by the Dakota Access-Pipeline (DAPL). They were confronted with massive police operation and hundreds got arrested. There is always more to be seen, than what the surface of the painting shows, than what the section of the picture suggests. There are all these adventitious traces on the painting ground, on photographs I see, in daily life, those perceived when I am contemplating nature, and also those, which are living in my head.
