Printing-out platinum-palladium (ziatype). Dimensions stated are the actual image size including hand-coating border. Edition of 2 with 1 AP. My hand made prints are created using antique processes which depend on mixing my own chemical emulsions and applying them by brush and/or coating rod to a fine art paper or other substrate. Printing-out Palladium and Platinum-Palladium (Ziatype). A photographic printing process that uses the precious metals palladium and platinum in a light-sensitive solution that is hand-applied to fine art paper. The coated paper is then contact printed under ultraviolet light, using a negative the same size as the desired printed image. The resulting print is one of unusual beauty and great archival stability, and each print in an edition will be distinct from each other. Cyanotype. One of the earliest photographic printing processes, I often use cyanotype as a second, complementary overprint on a palladium print. The cyanotype process results in an image or layer that is Prussian Blue in color, but the color may be modified by bleaching and toning.

Kenneth Jackson's works have included natural environments, still life, portraits, and the figure, rendered using digital, analog, and alternative photographic processes. His work has been exhibited around the US and overseas, featured in publications, and collected. Jackson is also a musician and writer. He and his wife live in the woods with their cats and dog at their home, Crow Hill, in rural North Carolina. STATEMENT: The tension between surface appearances and underlying mystery is where I most enjoy working. I approach my work as poetic visual meditations that respond to, and in some ways express, the deep beauties of this passing world and our brief lives. As James Hillman wrote: "That the world is loveless results directly from the repression of beauty, its beauty and our sensitivity to beauty.” This meaning of beauty is deeply layered and emotionally stirring; unlike the superficial kind of “beauty” so celebrated in popular media, it is essential to the nourishment of the soul. I like to make mages that can be beautiful in this deeper sense, evoking emotions, memories, and dreams; a trail of breadcrumbs leading us back to a love of the world."
