About The Artwork

This is a self portrait, part of my personal ongoing project "Inside my shadow I met me". The project is developing along with my personal path in realizing who I really am, it is influenced by elements of psychology and is mostly about genuine self recognition and acceptance. We all have a dark side and yet not all of us are not afraid to touch it, to embrace it and see through it. As a result, we only see a fake version of our own perception of what light is. This photo is inspired, like many of mine, by a dream I had about me meditating with the Yogi I am meditating in real life. I dreamt that I was meditating with Yogi in a garden full of trees, tall and thin, under the bright sun light. I looked around me and felt at peace even though I did not know what I was looking for. The reason I was there among those people. His voice was guiding us, asking us to imagine we take our deepest breath and dive into the ocean. Our bodies firm and solid. Strong and yet flexible to survive the crash on the sea surface. I dived. It was back, deep, quiet, thick black and my body was a graceful source of light. I heard him asking me “Nassia, are you ready?”

Nassia Kapa is a photographer, who has participated in exhibitions in Greece and London, as well as international publications. She is the woman behind nassiakapa.com. Born and raised in Athens, she moved to London in 2013, where she currently lives. Passionate about poetry in words, in feelings, in body language, emotionally lost in opera arias and ballet, drunk in jazz and art. Her work is focused on self projection, and the eternal flow of life that energies human existence. Through her interaction with others and herself, she is recording feelings and patterns that appear in front of her lense, and are crystallized into eternity, as a photograph. Hello, my name is Nassia. I am not a photographer. I just feel, it happens to have a camera around. http://nassiakapa.com/about/
