Music, specifically Pop Music plays a pivotal part in my creative process. I hone in on both the lyrics and movement of the words as they are played out in a song visualizing shape and form, presenting a back and forth dialogue between objects. My primary medium is porcelain, which allows me to work organically, adding or removing clay during the building process. I finish my work by firing to Cone 6 in an electric kiln and sandblasting the glazed surfaces which not only adds design and texture but creates a visual partnership between the pieces. Sometimes my work comes instantaneous catching people in a moment of interaction, honing in on the that space created other times I might listen to a song a thousand times thinking about and sketching that interaction that presents itself through verse. Listening to George Michael's Faith, I was drawn to the lyrics I know all the games you play because I play them too and wanted to explore that idea in my work. I used nearly identical forms with very slight sandblasted surface differences to portray that back and forth between the narrator and the recipient.
