Greer Taylor is a visual artist and poet based in Kangaroo Valley, South of Sydney, Australia. All aspects of her work are deeply informed by the idea of wilderness and wild places, her work is most usually about looking inside the structure of our world to reveal its vulnerability and interrelationship. After many years working in various aspects of the visual arts from fashion to graphic design, Greer has now worked full time for the last 11 years as an artist, mainly making installations and sculpture. She exhibits regularly around Australia showing at exhibitions such as Sculpture by the Sea in Bondi NSW, Lorne Sculpture Biennial in Victoria, as well as solo exhibitions and many other group exhibitions... In 2012 Greer won the inaugural 'Sculpture at Scenic World Prize' held in the Jamison Valley rainforest in Katoomba in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, and early in 2014 won the biannual 'Western Sydney University Acquisitive Sculpture Award'. She has also been commissioned to produce 3 public artworks. In late 2014 Greer published a book called ‘ephemeral’ with brings together two aspects of her ‘wild place practice’ – small ephemeral artworks and poetry written and made while in wild places.
