About The Artwork
This acrylic/mixed media painting, created on canvas was inspired by a recent visit to Japan. There was so much to admire in this beautiful culture and when I returned to Canada, I was inspired to create a series of mixed media collages all related thematically to Japan. If nothing else, I would hope my viewers would want to take a trip to Japan themselves where everything you see, touch, taste or smell is artfully done. The colourful kimonos , beautiful gardens, appealing food and most of all the gracious people were unforgettable. I hoped to move the viewer's eye around the canvas to see some of the colourful images of Japanese women I saw on my visit.

Myra Evans is a visual artist living and working in Toronto, Canada and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. After retiring from a long, rewarding career as a high school teacher and administrator, Myra discovered the joys of painting, especially using water media. After 15 years of creating impressionistic water colour portraits, she is now experimenting with acrylics, pastels ,hand made paper, collage/texturizing techniques, inks and watercolours. Exploring abstraction using figurative images with alternative mediums has been an on-going adventure. Her time and energy has been focused on developing as a painter.
